List of Persons 64th Regiment Captain Mercer Company 1813 Barren County, Kentucky

Persons listed under 64th Regiment Capt. MERCER COMPANY in the

1813 Barren County, Kentucky Tax list

In today's blog, I am working on persons listed as part of "64th Regiment, Capt. Mercer Co." in the 1813 tax list for Barren County, Kentucky. This tax list contains members of Kentucky Militia known as the "Cornstalk Militia" and those who fought in War of 1812. It is in alphabetical order by surname and it lists each person's military affiliation down the left hand column. The reason I am focusing on Mercer's company is my direct ancestor, Thomas Sullivan, was a part of it. In the beginning pages of the tax list we see Mercer's Company noted as:

"64th Regiment Capt. Mercer Co."

in parts of the census it is notes as just "Mercer co."

The "Cornstalk Militia": I found a Captain Howard Mercer, who was in charge the 45th Regiment. The document linked below lists: 64th Regiment had Lt. Col. Hugh Brown, Major Samuel Parker and Major Davis Hardin. My belief is Captain Howard Mercer was also in charge of the 64th Regiment at some point as he was living along side some of the men in that regiment.

Info on Howard Mercer living in Barren county Kentucky along Big Barren River. He married Prissy Gist. Links below:
